Fundraising Underway for New Roof at The Neosho Carver Schoolhouse

Carver Schoolhouse Roof Donated

UPDATE!!!  Phillip Camerer Roofing in Neosho has generously offered, to replace the roof at the Neosho 1872 Schoolhouse, aka 1872 Carver School.

Carver Birthplace Association in co-operation with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks has started a fundraising effort to raise $8,000 to replace the roof on the Neosho Carver Schoolhouse. The Schoolhouse has been placed on the National Historic Preservation list.

Carver trivia: Mariah Watkins, who housed Carver while at the Neosho MO school, was later the nanny of Thomas Hart Benton, “America’s First Great Painter.”
